ScopeLift is Taking Over Operation of Tally's Governance Platform

March 31st, 2026 / Ben DiFrancesco

TL;DR

  • On March 17th Tally announced it was sunsetting its platform. Today, we have agreed to take over operation of the platform to maintain and upgrade its governance product suite.
  • We're picking up the torch. Our priorities are stability and continuity. If your DAO actively uses Tally for governance, no immediate action is required.
  • We're in touch with stakeholders from many of the most active DAOs on the platform and aim to connect with all the other DAOs within the next weeks. Feel free to reach out proactively through the form shared below.
  • The tally.xyz domain will remain operational during the transition and will redirect to our new domain afterwards. In the near term, data for active DAOs will be preserved.
  • ScopeLift has been Tally's smart contract engineering partner for years. Before that, we were already deeply involved in the onchain governance space, having built Flexible Voting, Seatbelt, UniStaker and sensitive Governor upgrades for Compound, Gitcoin, Arbitrum, Radworks, Wormhole, ZKsync and other major DAOs.
  • Now we'll be operating the full stack directly. The platform will be rebranded under a new name later in April. Additional details will be shared as soon as possible.

What's happening

You've likely heard the unfortunate news that Tally is sunsetting its platform operations. We wanted to pick up the torch and, after discussions with Tally's co-founders, today we're happy to announce we have agreed to take over operation of the platform.

The goal is to not only maintain, but to continue upgrading its excellent governance product that has served over 400 DAOs across the Ethereum ecosystem.

If your DAO is active on Tally, nothing will change in the short term. The service will continue to run uninterrupted through this transition.

Meanwhile, we're in conversations with many of the most active DAOs on the platform and hope to speak with all of them. If your DAO uses Tally, you can get in touch through this form if our team hasn't already reached out.

We want to thank the co-founders, Dennison and Raf, as well as Tyler and the rest of the team for building a product that became the standard for onchain governance tooling. Their impact on the ecosystem was remarkable and it was great to see all the praise they received over the past few weeks. Moreover, to ensure a smooth transition, Raf will continue to support us as we assume operations. We appreciate his support.

Tally ScopeLift Passing The Torch

What stays the same

In the near term, all data for active DAOs will be preserved. The tally.xyz domain will remain operational during the transition period and will redirect to our new domain for a period of several months after that.

If you are a governance lead or a token holder who uses Tally to vote, delegate, or manage proposals, the platform will continue to work as you know it and we'll keep upgrading it.

We will communicate directly with every active customer before any changes happen and aim to communicate directly with every registered DAO. If you feel your DAO may be affected, please fill in your details through this form and we'll arrange a chat and a meeting.

About ScopeLift

ScopeLift is a full-stack crypto engineering house. We’ve been building since 2016 for some of the top teams in the industry, from Optimism and Uniswap to Wormhole, ZKsync, Project Eleven, Gitcoin and more. Our areas of focus are privacy, governance and all things DeFi, and we're also the stewards of Umbra, the EVM stealth addresses protocol.

We've been Tally's smart contract engineering partner for years. When many of Tally's clients needed Governor contracts deployed, customized or upgraded, they relied on us.

Moreover, even before we worked with Tally we were already deep into the onchain governance space, having built Flexible Voting, Seatbelt, UniStaker, as well as sensitive Governor upgrades for Compound, Gitcoin, Arbitrum, Radworks, Wormhole, ZKsync and other major DAOs. These contracts have processed more than one billion dollars in value so far.

Check out the appendix below for more details on our governance work.

Transition details

All the legal details have been finalized, but we're still wrapping up the operational transition. We also want to hear from as many DAOs as possible to better understand how we can improve the product. This is what we can share so far:

Brand. The platform will be rebranded under a new name to be announced later in April. The tally.xyz domain will continue to work throughout and will redirect to our new domain for a few months after the transition.

Scope. Over time, we will be rationalizing the set of networks and DAOs supported by the platform. Tally indexed a broad set of chains and DAOs, some of which have had no governance activity in years. We intend to focus our resources on actively governed DAOs and networks with critical mass. We will communicate any changes with plenty of notice, providing DAOs that still need support the opportunity to ensure a smooth transition.

Team. ScopeLift's engineering team is taking over platform operations. We are establishing our development workflows, getting familiar with the full codebase, and identifying areas for early improvement. Our focus in the first weeks is operational stability, but we are already collecting user feedback and envisioning many new features.

What is not changing: the core platform, the data, the governance experience for active DAOs and users, and the commitment to keeping this infrastructure running reliably.

Tally ScopeLift Lighting Up The Future

What's next

To summarize, our immediate priorities are:

  1. Operational continuity. Make sure nothing breaks during the transition.
  2. Direct outreach. We have reached out individually to many active DAOs on the platform and are trying to reach out to every active DAO to introduce ourselves, understand your needs and discuss the path forward. But if you haven't heard from us, please get in touch through this form.
  3. Scope rationalization. Remove inactive networks and dormant DAOs that have had no governance activity for extended periods, with advance notice.
  4. Rebrand and migration. Launch the new brand and domain, with a temporary redirect from the tally.xyz domain.
  5. Platform improvements. Address pain points and begin shipping improvements.
